Keeping yourself hydrated throughout your fast will curb hunger, and also provide an energy boost. Whether you drink flat water or sparkling, liquid is key to curbing hunger pangs.

In addition to water, you can also drink black coffee with zero sweeteners as well as tea, and some fasters even allow themselves a diet soda during a fast. Even though diet soda has been linked to cancer, some nutritionists claim that the benefits of fasting far outweigh the risk associated with aspartame, so an occasional diet soda here and there during a fast is not that big of a deal.

Even though all you may be dreaming of is a Big Mac from McDonald’s, it’s important that you break your fast with something nutritious.  Make sure it’s a well-balanced meal with plenty of protein, fats, and fiber-rich carbohydrates so that you don’t get a blood sugar spike.
